Field Adjustment Procedure
For Spiral Non-Tilt Balances
Step #1
Raise sash to upper-most position, and either hold or prop sash in
this position.

Step #2
Locate balance mounting assembly in lower corners of sash (see
illustration). Engage hole in end of rod with wire hook winding tool,
turn clockwise approximately 1/8 inch, and pull rod straight down and
out of bracket seat. Balance is now ready for adjustment.

Step #3
If sash is dropping, and additional tension is required, add tension by
rotating rod clockwise. Apply tension to both balances equally, not
exceeding more that two full turns at a time. Re-seat cross-pin in
bracket seat. If additional tension is required, repeat process until
sash holds in any open position.
If sash is hopping up from the sill, and less tension is desired, release
tension on both balances by letting wire hook winding tool rotate
counter-clockwise one or two full turns. Re-seat cross-pin. Repeat
procedure if needed.

Step #4
If spiral rod is out of bracket seat, and hanging down, rotate rod
upward to within two inches of bottom of sash. Engage winding hook
tool and apply tensioning turns as needed.
